Saint-Louis Crystal was established in 1586. In 1767, King Louis XV honored the glassworks of Munzthak with the coveted title of Royal Glassworks. In 1781, the glassworks was designated a Cristallerie, the first in continental Europe. The 19th century was a period rich in innovation. A new fashion evolved, which remains to this day, of adorning every elegant table with a suite of glasses. Today, still strong in the spirit of forward-looking creativity, Cristal Saint-Louis maintains traditions of craftsmanship with its crystal blowers, cutters and decorators.
