Description
The silver plated cake fork in the Marly pattern has a wide edge designed especially for cutting cake and pie on the plate. Marly, named after a no-longer-standing pleasure palace built by Louis XIV outside Paris, has been one of the most detailed and ornate patterns in the Christofles catalog since it was created in 1897. The fine chasing is an exquisite example of Rocaille with its asymmetrical crawling plant and shell motifs.
Launched in 1890, this pattern expresses the lavish refinement of the French Table. with its natural decoration & voluptuous curves, Marly is characteristic of the Louis XV style.
