The world map on this tray epitomizes the golden age of Dutch cartography circa 1630. Decorating the borders are representations of the four elements and other scenes. Portraits of Julius Caesar and Claudius Ptollemy and mapmakers Jodocus Hondius and Gerard Mercator adorn the top the dishes in the collection. Of note are the descriptions of California as an island, an expansive Canada and a massive Austrailian Continent. Microwave and dishwasher safe.
